    Covid-19

    manorhaus Ruthin & Greenbank Lodge Llangollen (including the self-contained cottage in Llangollen) has achieved the Visit Wales/Visit Britain Covid accreditation ‘Good to Go/Barod Amdani’ which certifies we have new processes in place to meet government guidelines to be Covid-aware.

     

    All our room rates are ROOM Only - manorhaus Ruthin is able to serve Breakfast in the dining room with prior reservation slots priced at £12 per person Unfortunately due to space constraints and Covid Regulations, Greenbank Lodge Llangollen is not able to offer breakfast dining - however there are numerous great chef's serving breakfast within a minutes walk.

     

    Below are some of the measures we have introduced:

    • Reducing capacity in the restaurant in Ruthin to enable implementation of new procedures around social distancing.
    • If in the unfortunate event, you or your household experience COVID-19 symptoms such as a high temperature, a new continuous cough or a change to your sense of taste and smell, we must ask that you follow the Government advice, remain at home, and contact us to allow your stay to be rescheduled.
    • As per government guidelines - guests will be asked to fill in a short questionnaire before arrival declaring they are in good health. Absence of symptoms of the Coronavirus are a condition of your visit.
    • We politely ask that any guests who are required to undertake self-isolation, household isolation or overseas travel related isolation remain at home in line with the Government advice, and contact us to rearrange their stay.
    • We will ask that all guests observe the social distancing requirements at all times and you will notice some reminders to do so, placed around the building. 
    • Each guest room will have their own bottle of hand sanitizer which meets WHO guidelines.
    • We will be using a Portable Ozone Room Sanitiser  in rooms between guests, adding an extra level of reassurance.
    • Only essential maintenance will be carried out in your room during your stay. We’ll be happy to provide clean towels and amenities to your door during your stay. For stays of 3 nights or more, we will liaise with you for a suitable time for a housekeeper to service your room.
    • Check-in time is between 4pm and 9pm, to enable us to complete the new cleaning regime.
    • All keys will be thoroughly sanitized between guests.
    • Where tea and coffee facilities are present, these will of course be properly cleaned and disinfected between arrivals, more items can be requested 
    • Staff will wear the recommended PPE in the form of visors or masks etc in situations where they cannot maintain recommended social distancing. 
    • Additional hand sanitisers and cleaning materials will be provided around the building.
    • Increased cleaning of communal facilities (dining room, lounge and bar)
    • The hot tub, sauna, steam room and guest library will not be currently open. The cinema in Ruthin will be available with ADVANCED reservation only to ensure an enhanced cleaning regime
    • Time slots for breakfast and dinner may be extended
    • Books/guidebooks/room guides etc will be removed - but leaflets, information etc will be available on request and on our website
    • Upon checkout - cards would be preferred
       

    We will do our very best to ensure we provide the same level of service and experience our guests have come to expect - whilst ensuring safety guidelines are met.

    What happens if i develop symptoms while staying at manorhaus?

    If a guests displays signs of the Covid-19 virus while staying, they should inform us, immediately self-isolate where they are to minimise any risk of transmission, and request a test. If they are confirmed to have Covid-19, they should return home if they reasonably can. They should use private transport but only drive themselves if they can do so safely. If a guest cannot reasonably return home (for example because they are not well enough to travel or do not have the means to arrange transport), their circumstances should be discussed with an appropriate health care professional and, if necessary, the local authority. Guests should follow government guidance on dealing with possible or confirmed coronavirus (COVID-19) infection. If the guest cannot return home, the guest will be expected to pay all costs.

    I had a booking during government lockdown:
    We are able to offer a credit note for any booking made on a pre-paid contract during the government closure valid for a 12 month period from the original reservation. Please use the booking reference from your original booking to apply the credit.

     

    I have a booking coming up:

    We are operating in a new ‘normal’ and you will receive an e-mail before your stay with specific instructions and information that you will need before arrival to undertake safe, remote, check-in and instructions for parking and accessing your room.

     

    What happens if i develop symptoms and need to cancel or a second wave means manorhaus has to close?

    This is something none of us want to happen, but if it does and you are unable to come for your holiday we will issue you with a refund or we will move your booking to an alternative date. We will be asking all guests to complete a short pre-check in questionnaire prior to arrival.

    There are convenient doggie walks nearby in town, and we can provide poop bags to ensure you are as well behaved as your pet.

Each entirely original room is a mini-art gallery, designed and decorated in colloboration with the artists whose work hang on the walls.     Every once in a while a place comes along that redefines conventional notions of accommodation. Having said that, there are at least two challenges with manorhaus. How to describe it? And how to fit it all into a review of 200-odd words? We have to start with the owners, Gavin Harris and Christopher Frost, because it is their passion for art and architecture that defines this unique building. Manorhaus is variously described as a restaurant with rooms, boutique hotel and art gallery. It combines these roles seamlessly. On entering, there’s a gallery space featuring changing exhibitions by contemporary artists and designers. But that’s just the start of the art. It infuses the entire building. It’s tempting to say that the bedrooms are works of art in themselves. Each one has a theme, taking as its inspiration a particular artwork that is then cleverly replicated in the décor. But at least as inventive is the way in which cutting-edge interior design has been playfully and professionally blended into the Georgian fabric of this fine old townhouse. All the must-have luxury items are there – the Egyptian cotton bedlinen, fluffy duvets, robes, upscale toiletries and fabulous bathrooms. And, to complete the picture for guests, there’s a library ... and private cinema. Back downstairs, there’s more: a split-level bar and conservatory restaurant where, again, the accent is on contemporary taste informed by the traditional values of fresh, local ingredients.

    FIRST IMPRESSIONS

    I will admit to a twinge of doubt about manorhaus before I set off. There's something about the combination of the words "boutique" "art gallery" and "North Wales" that brings out my latent South Walian suspiciousness. (I'm from Cardiff, where it's traditional to regard North Wales in roughly the way the rest of Britain views Murmansk.)

    And the website doesn't allay my fears: it's a city slickers' sort of a place, that looks to have been airlifted straight out of Shoreditch into Ruthin, an unassuming market town in the Vale of Clwyd, between Snowdonia and the English border.....
